Is woman a global category? How is gender performed differently across the globe? How do representations of first, second, and third-world women circulate transnationally? In this course, we will investigate how gendered bodies travel, perform, and are understood in wide variety of national, diasporic, and global media contexts, from theater and film, to politics and popular culture. Prerequisite: WT501 or permission of instructor.
